Nervous Fourth of July

Independence Day is one of frayed nerves for me. We took a walk this morning and there was this monster parade 3 blocks from our house. We turned around from our usual walkies route and headed home. I don’t like crowds. Tonight, fireworks. The town display is fired off about 200 yards from our house. Talk about loud-it shakes the windows in our house! I did pretty well with it last year. So did Nash and Scruff, but it’s no fun. My p.a. will get me through it somehow. Maybe a treat or two? Or a revolutionary ham sandwich?!

  1. poor checkers, i wish we could bypass the whole stupid firework thing for you. be brave little man, and try to stay calm. snuggles to you….

  2. Fireworks and most doggies don’t mix! Bless you at this time! Your p.a. will help ya out! Patch hated them-if we went outside to pee and we heard a boom-he would come back in and hold the pee-hehe! Bless you all! I don’t like the noises either-maybe you could come over here and protect me-lol!

  3. My sister and I don’t like fireworks either. We get all nervous and scarrred!

  4. Hang in there Checkers! Tonight is the night for loud party music and lots of cookies!

  5. We got it twice: Victoria Day (May 24) weekend, and Canada Day (July 1) , in the soccer field that’s right off our back balcony. We got smart the second time, and took the dogs to Riverdale Park until it was over. We feel for you, C,S,&N!
    (Where’s Y?)
Revolutionary ham sandwich? How ’bout ham, garlicky mashed potatoes, and a smidgen of blue cheese?

  6. And maybe some Horlicks will help you snooze through.
